Unprecedented EMC Resilience

Across industries, cameras are getting better – higher resolutions, faster frame raters, more bits per pixel – leaving high bandwidth links more susceptible than ever to electromagnetic interference. Valens’ MIPI A-PHY Serializer/Deserializer chipsets are the most resilient on the market, by far…. Read more —>
We put together a technology shootout showing how these chipsets can maintain signal integrity, withstanding far more noise injection than a widely used proprietary solution.
Here we have the Valens VA7000 serializer within the camera, sending 8Gbps over data along the link. On the other side, we have an identical setup, with the competing solution operating at 6Gbps. In the middle, we have a signal generator, injecting noise directly into each cable.
Let’s start at minus 5 db. Both links are operating flawlessly, as you can see from the image. But what happens when we crank up the noise. Let’s go with minus 4 db. Suddenly, you can see the competing solution begins to flicker and eventually falter altogether. The Valens solution, meanwhile, continues to operate.
Turning up the noise, the Valens solution continues to maintain its signal integrity. 0db. 10db. 20db. 25db. And finally, the link fails.
As you just saw in this demonstration, the Valens solution is able to withstand more than 20 times the injected noise. The unparalleled EMI resilience allows Valens to operate over the most challenging channels and provides system designers with unprecedented flexibility for a scalable, streamlined sensor connectivity infrastructure.
