Teledyne E2V: Real-Time 2D Vision and 3D Depth Map

Transcript:

Welcome to Vision Show 2024. I am Laurent from Teledyne e2v. I’m going to present you today a demo done in cooperation between three companies. We are on the Valens booth and with Valens company, plus AIRY3D and Teledyne e2v, we are going to demonstrate how to obtain 3D depth data in a very simple way… Read more —>

What you see here is a module from Teledyne e2v which is able to capture at the same time, in real time, 2D images and 3D depth data. These datas are transferred through MIPI CSI-2 interface and serialized and deserialized by the Valens chipset.

The signals go through this long cable of 15 m and reach then a Jetson Nano development board. On the Jetson Nano development board, we have the SDK from AIRY3D which is running and on this SDK we are capable to extract the heights of all these different objects, which are on the rotating platter over there.

For example, you see that this technology is capable to see through transparent material like this little plexiglass. This technology can detect objects very thin, like this chocolate tablet, or much taller like this box. The technology really does not need any specific illumination today.

The demo runs with the standard lighting conditions of the hall in the Vision Show. We have an accuracy which is very decent, in this case, about 1 cm accuracy. This is a cooperation between three companies – Valens, AIRY3D and Teledyne e2v. The product from Teledyne is called OPTOM-5D, it has just been released to the market in September 2024.
